L.L. Bean Boots have been a staple in fall wardrobes for those in the northeast for years-only becoming mainstream on college campuses  and on the streets of NYC in recent years.  Their rugged, no-nonsense and quirky style is now trendy, and their popularity is ever increasing.   I decided to outfit myself with a pair this year, and was lucky enough to snag a pair before they sold out.

Handcrafted in Maine, the pair I chose came with the traditional brick red, chain-tread bottom and bison leather (sourced in the US) uppers.  The leather is beautiful, the footbed soft and craftsmanship-excellent.  They are not the most stylish boot, but they’re smart and practical-and come with a lifetime guarantee that L.L. Bean is known for honoring.

This pair was $129.00 with free shipping.  Sizing is a little tricky,  they only come in whole sizes, and they’re meant to be a little roomy-to accommodate a heavier sock.  L.L. Bean Customer Service initially advised me to size down from an 8.5 to a 7, but they were way too tight even with a light sock.  The 8 accommodates a heavier sock and is still comfortable with a normal weight sock, without slipping.

I completely recommend these boots, they’re timeless and functional-and as long as you go with one of the unlined versions, they are multi-season boots that will take you from the rain and mud of spring through the ice and snow of winter.
